Fresh bid to combat swine flu

KATHMANDU: The National Health Education, Information and Communication Centre (NHEIC) is planning to introduce new measures to cope with the Swine flu. Laxmi Raman Ban, director, NHEIC, said that government neither had any strategy nor adequate budget to cope with the global pandemic. “As the government does not have adequate budget, we are relaying on INGOs for technical as well as financial support,” shared Ban.

The INGOs were helping the government to print brochures and produce television and radio programmes to create awareness about the disease. The advertisements, which are aimed at educating the public about the symptoms and preventive measures to be taken against the disease, would be aired in a couple of days, Ban added.
