Front to form republic on cards: Sharma

Kathmandu, September 2:

A central member of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Dinanath Sharma, said today that his party is working for the formation of a democratic republic by constituting a front comprising political forces and civic society.

Inaugurating the Nepal Central Office of the Democratic Republic Front, at Teenkune, Subidhanagar, he accused the government of hatching a conspiracy by bringing in arms from abroad at a time when the political parties are trying to convince the Maoist Army on the need to forge a consensus on the management of arms.

At the programme presided over by president of the front, Bhim Bahadur Kadayat, Man Mohan Bhattarai of the Nepali Congress (Democratic), Ghanshyam Sharma of the People’s Front Nepal, Govinda Chaudhari of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Dr Sundar Mani Dixit of the Civic Society for Peace and Development, Dinesh Panthi of the CPN-Maoist Leninist and Rabindra KC of the Front said the government was not moving ahead as per the spirit of the people’s movement-II.

They stressed the need to form an interim government and go for the conduct of elections to a constituent assembly at the earliest.
