Fuel shortage affects vehicular traffic

Kathmandu, September 1

Bandh enforced by various political parties in various districts coupled with fuel shortage has led to reduced vehicular traffic on the streets of the capital.

Motorists were seen shuttling between fuel stations in search of fuel while others have kept their vehicles off the road.

Motorists have lashed out at the government for failing to ensure smooth supply of petroleum products. “I have been waiting for hours to fill my scooter filled with petrol. But I doubt if I will get petrol,” Rina Magar, an employee of a private company, reacted while queuing outside a filling station at Naxal.

However, SP Pohraj Pokharel at the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, said there was no significant decrease in the number of vehicles arriving to and departing from Kathmandu. “The arrival-departure ratio of vehicles is around 7,000-7,000,” SP Pokharel said.
