GMC management panel members arrested over fraud

Kathmandu, March 7

Two management committee members of Gandaki Medical College Teaching Hospital and Research Centre were arrested today after medical students filed a fraud case against them.

Those arrested are former chief executive officer Santosh Khanal and Exam Controller Laxman Prasad Sharma. According to Anit Sinha, a student at the college, MBBS students of the college had filed fraud case against Chairman Khuma Aryal, Principal Rabindra Prasad Shrestha, Finance Controller Yub Raj Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer Krishna Raj Ghimire, Accountant Hari Maya Paudel and Procurement Officer Krishna Paudel at Kaski District Court on Tuesday.

Students of Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Bachelors of Nursing have also filed a case against management committee of

the college. “Two member of management committee were arrested today, while others are absconding,” said Sinha. He also said that students would continue their protest until the college returned extra fees collected from them.

Meanwhile, organising a press conference here today, Dr Govinda KC, senior orthopaedic surgeon, requested the government to punish management committee members of Gandaki Medical Colleges. He also demanded that the government implement the agreements signed with him in the past.
