Gang of vehicle thieves busted

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku said that they have busted a gang of vehicle thieves and arrested three persons, including two who were in the police's Most Wanted list for other crimes also.

The suspects are identified as 25-year-old Tika Thapa Magar aka Sagar of Ramechhap, 26-year-old Tej Bahadur Tamang aka Prakash of Ramechhap, and 31-year-old Prem Mahato Chaudhary of Chitwan.

According to police, Magar and Tamang are accused of different cases of robbery, theft and forgery and they were on the run. They were arrested from Balkhu on Monday, while Chaudhary was detained from Chitwan.

Police confiscated stolen vehicles including a Bolero jeep and seven motorcycles, a laptop, gold ornaments and cash among other items from their possession in Kathmandu, Chitwan and Makawanpur districts.

Meanwhile, police arrested a 19-year-old youth on charge of stealing a motorcycle from Kimdol of KMC-16.

The arrested youth is identified as Kamal Gurung of Ramechhap.
