Ganga Maya Adhikari breaks hunger strike at Bir Hospital
KATHMANDU: Ganga Maya Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha has ended her hunger strike at the Bir Hospital following the Chitwan District Court's decision to record her statement in the murder of her son Krishna Prasad Adhikari.
Her teenage son was kidnapped and fatally shot by the then Maoist rebels in Chitwan in June 2004.
Ganga Maya, who lost her husband Nanda Prasad Adhikari in September 2014 while staging hunger strike demanding justice to their son for 11 months, resorted to fast-unto-death one month ago.
Nanda Prasad Adhikari is yet to be cremated and his body has been kept at the Teaching Hospital.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari and others had expressed concerns over her deteriorating health condition.
She ended her hunger strike on the suggestion of lawyers and rights activists lending support to her cause.
