General strike hits Kathmandu Valley

The nationwide general strike partially affected Kathmandu Valley, though the general public, students, and travellers, among others, had to suffer due to absence of vehicular movement today.
The strike was imposed by Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist.
All the schools and colleges in Kathmandu Valley remained closed.
Due to lack of vehicular movement, patients, travellers, job holders and bureaucrats, among others, suffered the most.
According to Nepal Police, cadres of CPN Maoist torched at least two taxis in the Capital today morning after they plied on the road despite the strike imposed by the Maoist outfit. They torched a taxi with number plate BA 1 JA 286 in Gongabu Chowk of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-29 and another taxi in Minbhawan with number plate BA 1 JA 5162.
Police have detained two cadres who were involved in torching the taxi in Minbhawan Kathmandu. Both the taxis were completely damaged.
Some private vehicles had been plying the roads in the Valley, while public ones have remained off the road.
