Govt decides to shift Bir Hospital to Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU: The government on Friday decided to shift the oldest health facility of Nepal, Bir Hospital, to Duwakaot of Bhaktapur district.

A Cabinet meeting held this afternoon decided to acquire 700 ropani land in Duwakot of Nagarkot Municipality in Bhaktapur for the purpose, informed the government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Sherdhan Rai.

The decision was made after the current hospital premises in Mahankal, Kantipath of Kathmandu were congested for ever increasing number of patients.

Meanwhile, the government also decided to mobilise Nepal Army personnel for security of Lo Manthang area of Mustang district, which is believed to boast uranium mines.

The government also endorsed the National Mass Communication Policy today, according to Minister Rai.

Likewise, the meeting decided that foreign televisions channels broadcast their signals in Nepal in clean feed without commercials.
