Govt doctors threaten to launch protest

Kathmandu, December 22

Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal has threatened to launch a decisive protest if the government does not address their demands related to Civil Servants Adjustment Ordinance, social security of doctors, salary increment and improvement of physical infrastructures of government hospitals, among others.

Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal today forwarded a five-point demand to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Upendra Yadav.

They have demanded staff adjustment, transfer, promotion, salary increment in the provincial and local levels only after the formulation of Civil Service Act in the provincial and local levels.

In the same way, GODAN has also demanded that the decision to appoint secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, who is not from the medical sector, be scrapped as soon as possible. It has demanded administrative training for joint secretaries (11th level) so that they can easily be adjusted in various ministries.

GODAN has also demanded appointment of vice-chancellor and other high level officials at National Academy of Health Sciences from among the government doctors.
