Govt must act on NHRC advice: Expert
Kathmandu, August 3:
Human rights activists underscored the necessity of provisons for declaring recommendations made by the National Human Rights Commission on rights violation cases to the government as mandatory directives.
“The NHRC’s recommendations to the government on human rights cases should be obligatory,” said Kapil Shrestha, former NHRC member. A tribunal should be set up in the commission to decide cases of human rights violations, said human rights activist Gopal Sivakoti at the commission’s interaction with human rights activists and civil society here today.
