Govt set to adopt strong measures to battle swine flu

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Health and Population today made it clear that it would adopt strong measures to control the possible spread of Influenza A (H1N1) after the World Health Organisation declared the influenza a pandemic.

Issuing a press statement, the MoHP said it was

coordinating among the concerned ministries, departments and hospitals at different levels to take preventive measures against the possible health threat.

“We have the required facilities to provide medical service to the victims of influenza at National Public Health Laboratory from Sunday,” adds the release.

The ministry has also issued directives to all the district and regional subordinates to remain alert and to intensify surveillance at the suspected places.

The ministry has continued to screen the passengers arriving from overseas.

It has also started a hot line service (phone no. 4255796) round-the-clock.

As many as, 27,737 cases of infection and 141 deaths due to swine flu A have so far been reported to the WHO from 74 countries.
