Govt to set up research fund for engineers soon

Kathmandu, May 7:

Vice-chairman of National Planning Commission Dr Shankar Sharma said yesterday the government would set up a research fund so that engineers could dedicate time in developing innovative ideas.

“We want all the engineers to take part in the nation’s progress,” he said addressing the ninth National Convention of Engineers.

DBJ Ranatunga, the president elect of Engineering Institute of Sri Lanka, who was impressed by Safa tempos in the Valley, said there were many sectors in which Nepali and Sri Lankan engineers could collaborate.

The two-day event will see 88 working papers presented in addition to 14 key note speeches from different sectors of engineering.
