GPK making progress, receives Prez

KATHMANDU: The health of former Nepal Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala who has been kept under medical observation, is gradually improving, doctors said on Monday.

Koirala was admitted to the Sahid Gangalal National Heart Center in Bansbari after his health became critical on Sunday. According to doctors, his condition is better following an improvement in the oxygen level in his blood. Leaders and cadres of the different political parties gathered at the hospital premises.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav paid a visit to Koirala in the morning to inquire about his health in the hospital.

Ministers, leaders and cadres of various political parties are also visiting the hospital to make courtesy calls on the octogenarian leader.

The former PM was rushed to the hospital at 7 PM on Sunday after his personal doctors found the level of haemoglobin in his blood low and he complained of respiratory ailments. Koirala has become feeble and infection has been detected in his chest and urine.
