Grade XI classes to start from August 1

KATHMANDU: The Higher Secondary Education Board has informed all Higher Secondary Schools (HSS)/Plus Two colleges to follow this year’s academic calendar and begin the classes of Grade XI from August 1.

Most of the HSS/Plus Two colleges have already conducted entrance exam for Grade XI students and admitted students for the new academic session.

The HSEB made the academic calendar public yesterday, asking HSS/ Plus Two colleges to begin academic classes of grade XI from August 1 and Grade XII from July 18.

As per the calendar, the board exam of Grade XII will be held from mid-April next year, whereas Grade XII exam will be held from the second week of May.

Similarly, the results of Grade XII will be published by mid-August 2016 and Grade XI by mid-November 2016. This year, exams of Plus Two were delayed due to the April 25 earthquake.

The board exam of Grade XII was held from June 3 while exam of Grade XI began from June 16. The exams were held in only 68 districts in the first phase whereas exam of grade XII began from June 29 in seven districts.

Narayan Koirala, Member Secretary, HSEB, said that they were committed to announcing the results of Grade XII Science faculty by mid-August at any cost. “We have informed the concerned division to provide the financial and human resources to publish the result by mid-August,” he said.

He reiterated that they were not going to miss the yearly calendar from this year.

Last year the HSEB had published Grade XII Science faculty results in September, for which it faced criticism from guardians who said ‘the HSEB was not sensitive towards future of students’.

According to the yearly calendar, the registration form should be filled by mid-September whereas the exam form should be filled between mid-January 2016 and mid-February 2016.
