Guard held for fellow worker’s murder

Kathmandu, January 30

Police today arrested a security guard for allegedly murdering his fellow worker.

Rajan Thapa Chhetri, 22, of Thaha Municipality-9, Makwanpur, was held from Bangemudha. Metropolitan Police Crime Division had launched an investigation after Tul Bahadur Tamang, 54, of Shailung Rural Municipality-4, Dolakha, was found dead in Machhindrabahal yesterday.

Both Chhetri and Tamang used to work for Machhindrabahal-based East West Security Company and were deployed as guards of Machhendra Club.

According to Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Chhetri hit Tamang with a brick repeatedly on the head until his death in a dispute over duty hours.

“As Tamang refused to be deployed in Chhetri’s place yesterday, the latter attacked the victim with a brick,” said a report published by MPCD. Chhetri has been charged with murder.

Meanwhile, police have arrested three suspects for their involvement in stabbing as many persons.

Those arrested by a team of Inspector Janardan Ghimire of Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju, from Tarkeshwor Municipaliity-11 on Tuesday are Tilak Bahadur Gharti Magar, 22, and Anish Khadka, 17, of Dang and Milan Siwakoti, 18, of Dolakha.

According to police, the trio had knifed Subash Lamichhane, 22, of Gorkha, and Man Bahadur Ghale, 23, and Suraj Thapa, 20, of Dhading in Machhapokhari on Saturday. Of the victims, Lamichhane and Ghale were driver and helper of a Dhading-Kathmandu bus. All the victims were injured and are receiving treatment.

The suspects have been charged with attempt to murder. Police said they had launched an investigation to establish their motive behind stabbing Lamichhane, Ghale and Thapa.
