Nepali youth receives excellence award in regional summit
KATHMANDU: A Nepali youth was honoured with an international award for his involvement in continuous social work activities in the region.
Guna Raj Pyakurel, Nepal Scouts National Council Member, was awarded the Excellence in Service Award by the Youth for Human Rights International.
Pyakurel was awarded during the 4th YHRI South Asia Summit on Human Rights held in Lucknow of India from April 21 to 24.
He was participating in the Summit as the national representative of Nepal.
Pyakurel said he received the award for his leadership in various relief works after last year's earthquake here as well as support to flood victims of Chennai flood in December last year.
Likewise, another representative from Nepal Rahul KC also received the Hero Award at the Summit.
Total 12 Nepali social workers had participated in the Summit attended by more than 50 youth activists from nations of the South Asia region.
