Guthi spends Rs 20m for Dashain rituals

Guthi Sansthan spends around Rs 20 million to perform rituals in the 15-day Dashain festival.
According to Dipak Panday, chief of Guthi Sansthan, the body allocates approximately Rs 20 million for different activities in more than 700 temples under Rajguthi across the country. This makes one-third of the Sansthan’s total conservation budget. Panday said the Sansthan provides 54 goats, 54 buffalos for sacrifice in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Taleju temples while only 23 goats are provided for sacrifice at the Lalitpur Taleju. “Guheshwori, Maitidevi, Kalikasthan, Bhadrakali, Sankta, Naradevi, Shovabhagbati, Mahankal, Suryabinayak are the temples where the Guthi Sansthan allocates its budget for Dashain puja. Kathmandu Valley alone needs 161 goats, 59 buffalos, 58 ducks,” he added.
