Health camp for women, kids

Bhaktapur, August 24:

The Council for Working Women and Children (CWWC) today organised a free

health camp for women and children in Bhaktapur district on the occasion of its 12th anniversary.

“As the women and children in remote areas of the district are not health conscious, we organised the health camp to make them aware of health issues and treat them for free,” Ranju Napit, president of CWWC, told this daily today.

Doctors examined patients from 16 VDCs of the district as well as from Madhyapur Thimi Municipality. A total of 196 people were found to be suffering from problems related to reproductive health. Out of them, 45 were referred to the Maternity Hospital in Thapathali, said Dr Achyut Mani Adhikari, CWWC vice-president and a child specialist.

He said the underprivileged women and children from Dalit and indigenous communities were prioritised while treating the patients. According to Adhikari, medicines worth Rs 45,000 were distributed for free.

Napit said they were planning to organise free health camps every month.
