Hearing on Karki qualification debate over; verdict awaited
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Sunday concluded hearing on cases filed against the appointment of Lok Man Singh Karki as the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief.
The verdict, however, is yet to be delivered.
The full bench of justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha had conducted hearing on five various dates.
The hearing had begun on December 22, 2016.
Meanwhile, senior advocate Shambhu Thapa and advocates Surendra Bhandari, Chandra Kanta Gywali, Ramesh Badal, Tikaram Bhattarai, Raju Chapagain, Raman Kumar Karna, Dinesh Tripathi, Baburam Dahal, Jyoti Lamsal Paudel and Kun Devi Maharjan among 15 lawyers recorded their statements on behalf of the petitioner Om Prakash Aryal, against Karki, in the hearing today.
Aryal had argued that Karki did not meet all the qualifications required for the constitutional position.
