Kathmandu, June 5:

Lalitpur police yesterday arrested a person on charge of setting ablaze his own house at Ekantakuna, Lalitpur. According to police, Rajendra Karki, 30, fled after setting his room on the third floor of the three-storied building on fire. Property worth Rs 20,000 was gutted before policemen, fire fighters and the locals brought the fire under control. When the incident occurred, Karki was the only person present in the house as his wife was away at her parents’ house. He was arrested after locals informed the police that they had seen Karki fleeing after plumes of smoke were billowing out of the house. He was hiding at his relative’s place in Kusunti when the police arrested him. “He is reported to be suffering from mental problems,” said a police official at the Lalitpur District Police Office. Investigations are underway, he added.
