Hospital capacity to be increased
Kathmandu, July 14:
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Amik Sherchan, today said he would work for doubling the capacity of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, currently a 400-bed hospital.
Speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the Hospital here today, Deputy Prime Minister Sherchan said the government of Japan and other donor agencies would be asked for upgrading the hospital’s capacity .
He said that the government has adopted a policy of making arrangements for providing 25 beds free, posting at least two physicians in hospitals in rural and remote areas and supplying medicines and equipment on time.
Expressing concern over the health workers not staying in their postings in the rural areas, he called on the health specialists trained with huge amount of investment of the state to become responsible towards the state by serving in the remote areas for at least two years.
