House gutted in Mangalbazaar

Lalitpur, November 6:

A fire broke out in densely populated Saithu of Mangalbazaar, this afternoon, gutting a house completely and damaging adjoining houses.

According to SP Madhav Nepal at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, the fire that broke out at around 3:30 pm could not be brought control under control until this evening. The police said that short circuit caused the fire.

Krishna Awale and his wife, Pramila Suwal, were inside the house when the fire engulfed their house. They immediately informed the Juddha Fire Brigade in Laltipur, but fire-fighters couldn’t arrive at the scene due to a technical fault in a fire-fighting machine.

Two teams of fire-fighters from Kathmandu and Bhaktapur reached the spot after half-an-hour. By that time Awale’s house had already been gutted.

Suwal, who works in the Nepal Army, said they failed to save their belongings.
