House meeting put off for six days
KATHMANDU: The meeting of Legislature-Parliament called for tomorrow has been put off for six days.
The Parliament Secretariat issued a notice today saying as the House meeting scheduled for 1 pm tomorrow could not be be held due to "special reason", the Speaker (Onsari Gharti) has called the meeting for 1 pm January 19 afternoon.
The Speaker is currently in Bangkok to attend her ailing spouse, UCPN-Maoist Secretary Barshaman Pun, who has been hospitalised there.
It is believed that the House has been put off to provide window to the major three parties -- ruling CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist, and main opposition Nepali Congress -- and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front parties are holding discussion on ways to resolve the agitation in Tarai-Madhes region.
At the same time, as many as 24 amendment proposals on the Bill on First Amendment of Constitution of Nepal have been registered at the Parliament Secretariat.
