House put off as only 90 lawmakers show up

KATHMANDU: The Legislature-Parliament meeting was hit hard by absenteeism of lawmakers on Thursday.

As only 90 showed up, lack of quorum forced the House to put off the meeting for Sunday.

Now, the House will meet at 3 pm on Sunday, the Parliament's Secretariat said.

As per the parliamentary regulations, at least 149 lawmakers should be present to convene the House.

Meanwhile, lawmakers of Madhesi parties continued walking out of the meeting as well in protest of the delay in addressing their demands to amend the Constitution.

Earlier speaking during the zero hour, lawmakers asked theĀ stakeholders to build conducive environment to conduct local level elections scheduled for May 14.
