HURPES demands drive against drug, alcohol abuse

Kathmandu, February 8

A delegation from the Human Rights and Peace Society today called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and requested him to launch a national campaign against drug and alcohol abuse.

During the meeting that took place at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, PM Dahal responded to the society’s call positively, expressing his belief that such move would send a positive message.

PM Dahal also pledged to do the needful to control drug and alcohol abuse, according to Society Chair Gangadhar Adhikari. HUPRES also demanded formation of a special body under the PM’s chairmanship to combat drug abuse.

The delegation comprised the HUPRES’s founding President Krishna Pahadi, founding member Krishna Kandel, Vice-president Renuka Paudel and General Secretary Uttam Puadasaini.
