HURPES to stage sit-in at PM’s house
Kathmandu, November 30:
Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) today announced that it would launch sit-in protest in front of the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s official
residence in Baluwatar from December 10.
The government has failed to return the properties of the individuals seized by the Maoist cadres, read the statement issued by the HURPES. “HURPES has decided to protest Maoist inaction in this regard,” he added.
The rights body also stated that the Maoists were involved in many illegal activities even
after heading the government and they were violating the Comprehensive Peace Accord.
The government was not serious enough to return the properties seized by the Maoist cadres to the rightful owners, rehabilitate the displaced victims of 12 years conflict, make public the status of disappeared persons and take actions against the culprits, added the HURPES statement.
“The Maoist government is not ready to end impunity and restore rule of law and order in the country,” it stated.
“The Maoists have been advocating autocratic People’s Republic against the norms of democracy.”
