Impeachment motion in Nepali Congress consent: Sharma
KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Centre leader and Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma claimed the Nepali Congress had consented to file the impeachment motion against Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki.
"This proposal was put forward after a discussion with chiefs of major three parties," he informed, "Our Chairman Prachanda (Pushpa Kamal Dahal), UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba were consulted."
"Lok Man had created an atmosphere of terror by misusing his position," one of the signatories among 157 lawmakers said, "We raised the issue as he was widely protested in both the streets and the House."
Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu today, he expressed his belief that the lawmakers who believe in democracy and rule of law would vote for the motion against Karki.
Sharma also informed that the motion would not result into a division between the current coalition partners, NC and CPN MC.
He said, "Rumours have been spread that the alliance was broken. But, these are just illusions."
Meanwhile, Sharma also refuted speculations that the main opposition CPN-UML was trying to form a new coalition.
He claimed it was not the UML, but the CPN MC, which initiated the impeachment motion.
