Fine for fake certificate

KATHMANDU: The Special Court on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 to police inspector Narayan Singh Thapa for presenting fake certificate to acquire promotion. The order came in response to a case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority against Thapa. — HNS

Four held with marijuana

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four persons along with 185 kg of marijuana in Parsa district recently. The accused were trying to smuggle out the illegal drug in a truck and were held from Alau VDC-8 of the district. Those arrested are Kumar Lama, 27, of Gogane VDC-8, Makwanpur, Bel Bahadur Lama, 28, of the same VDC, Kedarman Shrestha, 28, of Hetauda municipality-10 and Prabin Lama, 19, of Basamadhi village development committee-3 of Makwanpur district, according to police. — RSS

Claim for lost mobikes

KATHMANDU: Two dozen people came to claim their motorcycles at the Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshahpath, three weeks after it asked all, who had lost their motorcycles, to come to the office with full proof. "After we made the public call through different media, two dozen people came to claim and took their motorcycles away," a police official said today. The office had asked all the commoners who had lost their motorcycles to come and claim their motorcycles after different police offices in the valley found 162 motorcycles from different parts of the valley. According to DIGP Ashok Kumar Shrestha, police had found those motorcycles in neglected condition. — HNS
