GPK’s cardiac ailment

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala had his health checked up at a hospital in Naxal, on Friday. He had his MRI taken and chest X-rayed following a complaint of chest problems. His close aide said that GPK has been discharged from the hospital and was resting at his residence in Maharajgunj. — HNS

Chhath rally

KATHMANDU: Terai Cultural Foundation, Mahaparba Chhath Samaroha Samiti organised a rally in Kathmandu, on Friday. The rally, on the occasion of Chhath, went around various parts of the city and assembled at Shantibatika, Ratna Park. Similarly, the committee also organised a wrestling competition, on the occasion, at Kathmandu’s Tri-Chandra Campus. —HNS

FNJ forms new CC

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has formed a new central committee under the leadership of Pushpa Raj Gadtaula, on Friday. A press statement by FNJ stated that Deepak Kumar Dhakal is now the new vice-chairman, Rajesh Kumar Bhagat the general secretary, Ram Bhandari the secretary, Puja Poudel the treasurer, Santosh Chaudhary and Barsha Subba the members. Furthermore, Jyoti Kumar Khanal, Sashi Raj Gautam and Lekh Raj Khabas are now the advisors.—HNS

Seven hurt in accident

BHAKTAPUR: At least seven passengers were injured when a bus veered off the road while parked at Changunarayan-6, Bhaktapur on Friday.

Deepak Dhungel, Inspector at Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur informed that the accident occurred due to negligence of the driver.

“Ganga Tamang, Ranjana Bhandel, Srijana Bhandel, Sita Bhandel, Sujata Maharjan, Bahadur Tamang, Sundar Tamang , most of whom are students, were among the injured,” said Dhungel. Ganga and Ranjana have been admitted at B & B Hospital while others have returned home after treatment at Bhaktapur Hospital, Dhungel said. Dhungel also informed that the driver would be penalised as per the transport act.
