President's wishes

KATHMANDU: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has wished for happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepalis home and abroad on the occasion of Dipawali or Tihar, also called Yam Panchak. SC backs consumers

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued show cause notices to government authorities over not promulgating Consumer Protection Regulation as per the Consumer Protection Act, 1998. A single bench of Justice Bala Ram KC issued the notices to the Prime Minister's Office and the Cabinet, Ministry of Law and Justice and the Legislature Parliament. The notice was responding to a writ petition seeking the apex court order to promulgate the regulation in order to protect the rights of the consumers filed by Netra Prasad Dhital and Jagannath Mishra.The bench prioritised the hearing on the issue considering its nature. — HNS
