Gautam discharged

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam, who was hospitalised at Norvic Heart International Hospital where he underwent angiography on Wednesday, was discharged on Friday. A statement issued here by the minister’s private secretariat said the doctors had advised him to take rest for a few days. “The minister has apologisied for the disruption caused in the administrative, political and other official programmes due to his health problem,” it said. — HNS

TU victims defer plan

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University (TU) Victims’ Struggle Committee on Friday postponed its programme to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, demanding him to address their problems. They had also planned to submit signatures collected from the locals for the support of their cause to the PM. The Prime Minister is also the chancellor of the university. The programme was cancelled after the committee members could not reach to the PM’s residence on scheduled time due to traffic jam. The meeting with the PM has been rescheduled for Saturday. — HNS

Army merger panel

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has recommended Dr Ram Sharan Mahat and Dr Minendra Rijal to represent the party in the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC). The names were reportedly sent to Prime Minister and the panel’s chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday. — RSS
