Health camp

KATHMANDU: The Doctors’ Wives’ Association is organising a health camp to treat cleft-lip-palate patients from January 4-14 in Dhulikhel Hospital. More than 50 patients are expected to benefit from the free operation camp. Established in 1984 to help poor women and their children, DWA has been engaged in preventive, curative and awareness raising health support activities.

Supported by a team of Japanese doctors and Operation Unise Japan, DWA has been organising cleft-lip-palate camps across the country for a decade. — HNS

Students held

KATHMANDU: More than a dozen students who have been staging a sit-in protest in front of Shankar Dev College were manhandled and arrested by police personnel led by Inspector Amarandra Bahadur Singh on Monday. The students who appeared in the entrance examination of the college on December 6 have been protesting to pressure the government to publish the results. According to a press release issued by the Entrance Examinees’ Struggle Committee, they condemned the police action and announced to continue their protests. —HNS
