CIAA edict
Kathmandu: Citing that it was necessary to test whether the fixed cost estimate of the development projects constructed by various public bodies meet the criteria of the Normas Specification; and there was not any legal provisions so far on the technical test of such projects in our country, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday decided to write to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, National Vigilance Centre and Ministry of Law, Justice and Constituent Assembly to formulate necessary
legal provisions and test the projects as per the Specification. — RSS
Equitable society
Lalitpur: Chairperson of All Nepal Women’s Association and UML central committee member Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday said there should not be violence against women in society so as to make state equitable. Speaking at an interaction and orientation programme, she stressed on the need for unity among women to combat violence against them. Also speaking on the occasion were constituent assembly member from the party Sita Poudel, and Central Member of the Association and UML Valley Coordination Committee Member Sushila Nepal. —RSS
Satbijaropan panel
KATHMANDU: A committee to help out pilgrims during the upcoming satbijaropan at the Pashupati temple has been formed on Sunday under the coordination of member secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust. The festival, to be observed on Wednesday, will see lighting of wicks and dispersal of Satbij by devotees at the temple premises. The committee has arranged for a makeshift toilet, health camps, and security of the pilgrims. — HNS
Lockout ends
Madhyapur Thimi: Lockout of Department of Education ended on Sunday following an agreement between the agitating engineers and the department officials. Around 134 engineers and sub-engineers from across the country had padlocked the office demanding they be made permanent and annulment of the Contract Regulation, among others. The agitators and the Education Department have agreed to form a talks committee to study agitators’ demands and take appropriate actions accordingly. — RSS
