Sobhraj case

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court may decide the fate of Charles Gurumukh Sobhraj on Sunday. Sobhraj’s case has been under the jurisdiction of the SC for the last seven months. After the prosecution lawyers submitted their final arguments before a division bench of Justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Kalyan Shrestha on Sunday, the SC has told the defence lawyers to submit their final arguments next Sunday. Sobhraj had appealed against lower court verdicts that convicted him of killing American national Connie Jo Bronzich. — HNS

NSU grieved

KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting of Nepal Students’ Union on Sunday expressed grief over the sudden demise of its vice president Tanka Bikram Nembang in a tractor accident in Panchthar on Sunday morning. The meeting also decided to close all its offices for five days and hoist the union flags at half-mast to condole the death. The meeting also directed all its committees to organise condolence meetings on the 13th day of Nembang’s demise. The Nepali Congress also expressed grief over Nembang’s demise.— HNS
