Envoy’s aid pledge
KATHMANDU: Norwegian Ambassador to Nepal Thor Gislesen on Friday expressed commitment to extend help to Nepal for the reconstruction of the infrastructure destroyed during the conflict. After meeting Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Janardan Sharma at the latter’s office, Gislesen said his country would also help Nepal to rehabilitate the disqualified People’s Liberation Army combatants. He also said Norway was ready to help Nepal to lead the peace process to the logical end. — RSS
UNMIN awards medal
KATHMANDU: The United Nations Mission in Nepal has awarded the UNMIN Service Medal to Managing Director of Nepal Tent & Tarpaulin Pvt Ltd, Ratan Khetan, in recognition to his extensive support to its Arms Monitoring Division. The letter of appreciation signed by Chief Arms Monitor at UNMIN Brig Gen Jan Erik Wilhelmsen and handed over to Nepal Tent and Tarpaulin Pvt Ltd states that the company supported Nepal’s peace process in the initial phase of the verification of the Maoist combatants in all seven cantonment sites by providing essential infrastructure support. “Nepal Tent and Tarpulin Pvt Ltd is one of the most important
and recommended manufacturer of tents, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, rain wear, camping goods and many other products of goods of international standard,” UNMIN stated in the letter of appreciation. — RSS
Literary workshop
MADHYAPUR THIMI: A literary workshop was organised on Thursday by Sahitya Saanjh in Bhaktapur to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Mahakabi Laxmi Prasad Devkota. Storywriter and CA member Leela Nyaichyai inaugurated the programme dedicated to the Great Poet. Litterateurs highlighted Devkota’s contribution to the promotion of Nepali language
