Hindu body’s demand
KATHMANDU: The World Hindu Federation organised a rally on Friday urging the government to declare Nepal a Hindu state once again. The rallyists demanded that the decision to declare Nepal a secular state be revoked. Around 1,000 people took part in the rally that commenced from Kalanki Chowk and converged in Kalimati. Vehicular movement was disrupted for half an hour in the area due to the rally. Hem Bahadur Karki, chairperson of the World Hindu Federation said that they would continue protesting the declaration of a secular state. — HNS
Personalities feted
Kathmandu: On the occasion of its 14th anniversary, JP Foundation felicitated six personalities and 16 students for contribution to their respective fields. Dr Sarbagya Bhakta Malla, Rebat Bahadur Karki, Sushil Kumar Bhattachhan, Meera Bhattrai, Dr Hari Prasad Pokhrel and Kalu Gurung were among those felicitated at a programme held to mark the foundation’s anniversary. Maoist leader Suresh Ale Magar urged all the political parties to work together for restructuring the country. Nepali Congress leader Pradip Giri said though leaders initiated political revolution, they failed on cultural fronts. — HNS
