Envoy meets PM

KATHMANDU: Chinese ambassador to Nepal Qui Guohang met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday. It is learnt that the duo discussed the ongoing political developments in Nepal in the hour-long meeting. Guohang had met CPN-UML president Jhala Nath Khanal and party’s influential leader KP Oli on Tuesday. — HNS


Briton’s donation

Kathmandu: Timothy Powell Jackson, a British youth, has handed over Rs 237,000 to Basudev Neupane, chairperson, Samuhik Abhiyan. Issuing a statement on Wednesday, Jackson said he had collected the amount to contribute to the education of Nepali children by running a marathon. The Paris marathon is considered an effective way of fundraising in the UK. Samuhik Abhiyan felicitated Jackson with a letter of appreciation for his contribution. According to general secretary Prasad Sapkota, Samuhik Abhiyan has so far provided scholarship to 336 children in Ramechhap, Nawalparasi and Kathmandu districts. — HNS

Daylight robbery

KATHMANDU: Unidentified persons looted property worth Rs 5.34 lakhs from Gautam Das Ranjit of Kathmandu-14 Kuleswor on Tuesday. According to the police, the robbers decamped with jewellery, a laptop and cash. In another incident, cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.7 lakhs was looted on Tuesday night from Bikal Poudel’s room in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, the police said. — HNS


One killed

KATHMANDU: Bhuwan Singh Tamang, 26, died while being rushed to Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital after he was stabbed by a sharp-edged weapon at around 9:30 pm, near Nature Club, Kathmandu by three unidentified persons on Tuesday. Investigation into the case is underway, the police said. — HNS

Necklace snatched

KATHMANDU: Gold necklace of Indira Khaiju, resident of Buddha Nagar, Kathmandu, was snatched by two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle around 10 am on Wednesday morning. A gold necklace belonging to Bishnu Kumari Maden was snatched by unidentified persons on Wednesday in Kandaghari of Kathmandu district. — HNS

One injured

KATHMANDU: Kishor Silwal, 35, was injured when his motorbike collided with another motorbike in Koteshwor at about 11:30 am on Wednesday. He is undergoing treatment in B and B Hospital, Gwarko. — HNS

Infant found dead

KATHMANDU: An unidentified infant was found dead lying in a broken flower vase near Shanti Cave, Nagarjuna garden in Goldhunga-2, at about 7 am on Wednesday. Investigation into the case is underway, the police said. — HNS
