SLC result to take time

MADHYAPUR THIMI: The result of SLC examination is likely to be delayed, owing to the petroleum crisis. Exam controller Harka Prasad Shrestha said it had been difficult to ferry employees on time due to the fuel shortage. This will delay the result by some days, he said. Shrestha said, "Keeping in view the June 24 timeframe to publish the results, marked answer-scripts have been collected and computer entry of marks has begun." — RSS

Plea to CPN-M

KATHMANDU: The Human Rights Organisation (HURON), issuing an appeal on Monday, called the CPN-Maoist to make public whereabouts of those persons the party had taken under control during the decade-long conflict. It also called the party to come up with the number of party workers it lost during the conflict. The organisation also urged the party to make public the number of child soldiers it deployed during the conflict, the number of people whose property was seized and the number of those whose property has been returned. — HNS

Info-trade expo

Kathmandu: The Info-trade 2008 will be organised at Bhrikuti Mandap from June 13 to 17. The exhibition is expected to minimise the digital divide between the information-rich and poor people, executive director of Venus Event Management, Raj Kumar Bhattarai, said at a press conference on Monday. Water management

KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hishila Yami said on Monday that the Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Management Board has been given the authority to resolve the increasing problem of drinking water in the valley. Inaugurating a workshop on new beginning in management of water supply in Kathmandu, Yami said consumers committees can be mobilised in every ward to ensure smooth supply of water. She said the board has been authorised to look after distribution of water and determine tariff. —RSS
