CIAA files case

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Monday filed a corruption case against Sadhu Ram Thapa, a storekeeper of Nepal Telecom Patan office, at the Special Court. The CIAA has accused Thapa of embezzling Rs 4.2 million by misusing the NT’s RUIM and SIM cards kept under his care. The CIAA has sought the court’s order to forfeit the amount from him. — HNS

Hearing put off

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Tuesday postponed the hearing of a case challenging the constitutionality of the first CA meeting and its decision until Thursday, citing lack of time. “The bench could not hear the case due to lack of time,” assistant spokesperson for the apex court Hemanta Rawal told this daily. The case was placed before the bench of Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri but was re-scheduled for Thursday. — HNS
