Liquor ban in City

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Administration Office has imposed a ban on the consumption and sale of liquor in public places from April 7 to 13, Kathmandu CDO Jaya Mukunda Khanal said on Thursday. “We have banned the consumption and sale of liquor in public places on security grounds,” Khanal said. — HNS

Eco expedition

KATHMANDU: A team of mountaineers are setting out on an Eco Everest Expedition 2008 from April 6 with a view to drawing attention on impact of global warming in the Himalayas. The expedition, led by Dawa Steven Sherpa, will ascend the Mt Everest by using eco-friendly climbing standard and carry on research activities. The expedition is supported by ICIMOD. — HNS
