MBBS entrance tests

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education and Sports has finalised a new curriculum for MBBS entrance tests. While the new syllabus has excluded English from the 100 mark test, physics has been allotted 30 marks, chemistry 30 marks and biology — botany and zoology — 40 marks. “Earlier, the set of questions used to be from ISc or Grade IX syllabus, but now we have specified contents and mark division,” said Daan Bahadur Adhikari, under-secretary at the ministry. The ministry took two months to prepare the curriculum. “We hope universities will take it as a standard set of questions for MBBS entrance tests,” he said. — HNS

Media body’s meet

KATHMANDU: The second conference of the Jagaran Media Centre concluded here on Saturday, demanding a proportional representation in the media. The conference unanimously elected a seven-member executive committee headed by Rem Biswokarma. The panel has Purna Baraily as vice-president, Dilip Nepali as general secretary, Kamala Biswokarma as secretary, Dipak Pariyar as treasurer and J B Biswokarma and Dulari Harijan as members. — HNS

Bill passed

KATHMANDU: The Speaker of the Parliament certified on Monday the Money Laundering Elimination Bill- 2064 BS passed by the parliament, in accordance with the Article-87 of the Interim Constitution of Nepal-2063 BS, according to the Parliament Secretariat. — RSS

Nepal Bhasa training

Madhyapur Thimi: Some 20 youths from 15 districts across the country and Sikkim of India have been taking lessons on Nepal Bhasa since January 1. This is the first such programme aimed at preserving Newar culture. The participants are taking lessons on Newari language, culture, lifestyle, folk dance and musical instruments and are expected to share their knowledge with the people from where they have come. — HNS

Kathmandu: A task force constituted under the coordination of Joint-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dinesh Hari Adhikari to study the status of land belonging to the Ministry and offices under the Ministry submitted its report to Tourism Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung on Monday. — RSS
