Karki passes away

KATHMANDU: Editor and Publisher of Naya Chetana national weekly, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, passed away on Saturday at Bir Hospital. He was suffering from brain tumour and asthma for the past one-and-half months. The late Karki, 69, is survived by his wife and two sons. — RSS

Committee’s action

LALITPUR: The Central Child Welfare Committee has taken the Disabled and Orphaned Children Protection Centre of Jorpati into its control after committee executive Director Dharma Raj Shrestha monitored the place and found it was not operating upto the standard. Its owner Til Bahadur Karki was also taken into police custody. The process to close the centre has started as it was running against the law. — RSS

TUFN’s national meet

KATHMANDU: The fourth national conference of the Technical Unity Forum Nepal (TUFN) is scheduled to take place on January 25 and 26. According to a TUFN press release issued on Saturday, minister for local development Dev Gurung will inaugurate the function which will be held in Kathmandu. Some 4,500 technicians working in various private firms and NGOs are affiliated to the forum. — HNS

Reporter looted

KATHMANDU: An unidentified group looted cash and a mobile set from Rabin Thapaliya, reporter of Gorkha FM, at Manamainju on Friday evening while he was returning home from the office. Gorkha FM chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists condemned the incident and demanded that the culprits be held soon. — HNS
