GAESO prez accused
KATHMANDU: The British-Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Organisation, a splinter body of Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Organisation (GAESO), accused Padam Bahadur Gurung, president at GAESO of eclipsing the issues of the rights of the children of the war veterans. Issuing a press statement on Friday, it said that the GAESO had surrendered to the British government on the condition not to file a case for the settlement rights of children above 18 of the ex-servicemen. In a historical move, the British government last month had announced that it would provide residential visa to all the war veterans and their children under 18 who would meet the required criteria. — HNS


TMDP in a dilemma
KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of the Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) on Friday held discussions to finalise the name of leader who would lead its team in the government. Party leaders said that the party would make its final decision on the issue on Saturday. TMDP leader Mahendra Prasad Yadav said that the meeting discussed on the contemporary political issues and the party’s role in the new government. “The names will probably be finalised tomorrow,” he said. He added that the party would certainly join the government as it had already signed the common minimum programme of the new government. —HNS
