Youth shoots himself

KATHMANDU: A youth allegedly shot himself dead at Bishalbazaar on Saturday night. Police said that 24-year-old Raju Kapali shot at his chest with a country-made revolver inside a rented room and died while being brought to a hospital. “The case is suspicious as we found the revolver outside the room in a shrub,” said inspector Basanta Rajauriya at the Metropolitan Police Sector, Kamalpokhari. “We are investigating the case,” he said. Police were searching Kapali as he was allegedly involved in criminal cases. — HNS

Held for sexual abuse

KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Lalitpur, on Saturday evening arrested an operator of St Mary’s School Hostel on the charge of sexually abusing a girl. SP Pashupati Upadhyay on Sunday said they arrested Nabin Kishore Rai, 65, after parents of a 11-year-old girl filed a case against him at the MPR. “Rai has been sexually abusing the girl for one year, but the girl didn’t report it to her parents because of fear,” he said. — HNS
