Oath administered

KATHMANDU: A judge at the Kathmandu District Court, Narayan Prasad Dahal, administered the oath of office to around 200 notaries public at the Office of the Attorney-General (A-G) on Monday. A-G Yagya Murti Banjade was also present on the occasion. Judge Dahal will administer the oath of office to other notaries public at the Attorney-General’s Office on Tuesday as well. — HNS

Power outage

KATHMANDU: With the onset of winter and subsequent decrease in water levels in rivers, consumers may have to live without electricity for longer periods, an official at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) said. Currently, the NEA has been slapping four-hour-long load-shedding every week. Sher Singh Bhat, chief of the Load Dispatch Centre at the NEA, said chances are that load-shedding hours will be extended from the third week of December. As levels of water in rivers decrease, the generation of electricity plummets, forcing the NEA to extend load-shedding hours, the chief of the load dispatch centre further said. — RSS

KATHMANDU: A district-level leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) and former chairman of Bagarkot village development committee, Ghanashyam Chataut, died at the Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital on Monday. The Nepali Congress has expressed sorrow at the demise of Chataut. — RSS
