New Japanese envoy

KATHMANDU: Japanese ambassador-designate to Nepal, Tatsuo Mizuno, arrived here on Wednesday to take up his assignment in Nepal. Mizuno is succeeding ambassador Tsutomu Hiraoka. Mizuno served as consul-general of Japan in Auckland in New Zeland before. — HNS

India pledges aid

KATHMANDU: India has pledged an assistance of Rs 44.35 million for the construction of school and water supply, among others for schools in Kanchanpur, Palpa and Bara. A release of the embassy on Wednesday said a MoU was signed between the embassy and the DDCs. — HNS

Gandhi remembered

KATHMANDU: Pashupati Lal Kedia Foundation on Wednesday organised a function to mark the 138th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and the International Non-Violence Day. Speakers at the programme said Gandhi’s ideas should be followed for peace prosperity in the world. — RSS
