3 held with heroin

KATHMANDU: Police from the Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit on Saturday arrested three persons with 240 grams of heroin, a weighing scale, weights and cash worth Rs 135,000 from Amarawati Marg-35, Kathmandu. “We arrested Mohamad Shamshad, 30, Mohammad Gulphan, 22 and Sunil Kumar Kushawaha, 22, while they were waiting for clients at Amrawati marg,” the police said. — HNS

Dalits’ rally

KATHMANDU: The Joint Republican Dalit Front on Sunday organised a protest rally demanding 20 per cent representation of Dalit communities in the Constituent Assembly elections. The rally that started from Ratna Park went through Bhadrakali, Shahidgate, Tripureswor and converged into a meeting at Maitighar Mandala. During the meeting, speakers demanded that the budget allocated for the palace be given to the Dalit communities. — HNS

Singh’s warning

Kathmandu: President of the Naya Janabadi Morcha (NJM) Ram Raja Prasad Singh on Sunday said that the Morcha would have no option other than launching an armed rebellion if the upcoming constituent assembly polls fails to represent deprived communities. “My only dream is to see a janajati as a president of Nepal,” he said while addressing an interaction on Constituent Assembly and Ethnic Autonomy organised by Nepal Rastriya Jatiya Mukti Morcha. He said a direct election should pick the president of Nepal, who would be responsible to hold the constituent assembly election. — HNS
