IN BRIEF
JMCC meeting
KATHMANDU: The Joint Monitoring Coordination Committee (JMCC) meeting remained inconclusive for the second time on Thursday on beginning the second stage of verification of Maoist combatants. The meeting could not decide on the issue because Maoists have been demanding that the government pay the first installment for allowances to be paid to People’s Liberation Army personnel. The JMCC headed by UNMIN’s General Jan Erik Wilhelmsen on May 28, had decided to begin the second stage of verification by June 10. The JMCC has already finalised the framework and modalities for the verification process that was to begin from Ilam. — HNS
