5 held with fake notes
KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested five persons with fake Indian Currency amounting to Rs 54,700. Sunil Mainali, 24, , Chandra Dhwoj Lama, 48, Nanda Kishor Shah, 32, Sanjay Kumar Jha, 32, and Ranjeet Kumar Gupta, 39, were arrested by a team led by inspector Jeevan Shrestha. Also on Thursday, police arrested Bishnu Bahadur Khadka, Kailash Pande, Shiva Majhi, Raj Kumar Shrestha and Dinesh Basnet on the charge of abducting Sudha Khadgi of Ghattekulo on Tuesday. — HNS
Thieves arrested
KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested three persons for stealing valuables from houses on different dates. They have also confiscated a pistol, five rounds of 303 rifle bullets, one khukuri, a colour TV, a Podrej safe and some cash from Bhim Kumar Gharti Magar, 35, Amar Bahadur Magar, and Biswas Ghale, 24. — HNS
‘Bike thefts down’
Kathmandu: The Metro Traffic Police Division on Thursday said that the MTPD has recovered 40 per cent motorbikes lost in the valley. Bhishma Prasai, joint commissioner at the MTPD, said instances of bike thefts have gone down of late. —HNS
Donation for school
Lalitpur: Locals of Imadol have donated over Rs 55 lakh for the construction of a new building of the Shree Mahendra Adarsha Secondary School at Imadol-7. The locals made the donation during the Shreemad Bhagbad Gyan Mahayagya organised by the SMASS from April 26 to May 2 to construct the building. — HNS
