EMSDC report

KATHMANDU: The Education Media Strategy Draft Committee (EMSDC) on Wednesday presented its report to Dr Mangal Siddhi Manandhar, Minister for Education and Sports. The report has recommended use of new technologies in the education sector, according to a press release issued by the Education Journalists’ Group. The release stated that the EMSDC expressed commitment to accompany the media sector to provide quality education and knowledge to the people. Dr Manandhar directed ministry officials to work on the implementation of the report, it said. — HNS

Water Day today

KATHMANDU: The World Water Day is to be marked on Thursday (March 22) at the national level under convenorship of the Water and Energy Commission. The slogan for this year is Let’s manage the scarcity of water. — RSS

Punishment for kids

LALITPUR: Eighty-two per cent of the schoolchildren in Nepal are punished for not doing their home assignments, according to a study conducted by Save The Children Norway in Lalitpur. They are punished when they do not do their homeworks, make noise, or when they cannot answer their teachers’ questions. — RSS

Book on democracy

KATHMANDU: The Freedom Forum has published a book Loktantrama Samabesikaran (Inclusiveness in Democracy) by incorporating a series of interactions made on various aspects of inclusiveness issues. The 414-page book is jointly edited by Taranath Dahal, Hari Binod Adhikari and Ram Prasad Dahal. — RSS

Training programme

MADHAYAPUR: The National Tuberculosis Centre on Tuesday organised a training programme on tuberculosis for mediapersons to mark the World Tuberculosis Day. It is hoped that the training will help promote awareness about tuberculosis at the national level. At the programme, director of the centre Dr Puspa Malla, director of the SAARC Tuberculosis Centre Kashikant Jha and Dr Mahesh Khanal spoke about the disease. — RSS
